Pollen Sources by Time of Year

Click on the title or the picture for information on how to identify pollen sources by time of year.   Also, in the Central Illinois area, alder and hazel nut trees provide pollen during the winter.  So if your bees were flying on a warm winter day and bringing back a cream to yellowish pollen it may be from some highway right of way plantings of alder trees or some hazel nut trees in the area.
